Warning Of The Gently Flowing Waters Of Shiloah
The Lord spoke to me again: “Because this people has rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and rejoices over Rezin and the son of Remaliah, therefore the Lord is about to bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates— the king of Assyria with all his pomp. It will overflow all its channels, run over all its banks and sweep on into Judah, swirling over it, passing through it and reaching up to the neck. Its outspread wings will cover the breadth of your land, Immanuel !” Raise the war cry, you nations, and be shattered! Listen, all you distant lands. Prepare for battle, and be shattered! Prepare for battle, and be shattered! Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us. This is what the Lord says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people: “Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread. He will be a holy place; for both Israel and Judah he will be a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare. Many of them will stumble; they will fall and be broken, they will be snared and captured.” Bind up this testimony of warning and seal up God’s instruction among my disciples. I will wait for the Lord , who is hiding his face from the descendants of Jacob. I will put my trust in him. Here am I, and the children the Lord has given me. We are signs and symbols in Israel from the Lord Almighty, who dwells on Mount Zion. When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? Consult God’s instruction and the testimony of warning. If anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn. (Isaiah 8:5-20 NIV)
The Pool of Shiloah is a well-known water spring in the city of Jerusalem. This water spring is calm and clear, slow but gently. It provides people with sufficient water throughout the year. Although it does not look as spectacular as the waters of the Euphrates or the Nile, it serves the people of the city silently every day, so that the city people can be satisfied physically or spiritually. It can be said that the river that sustains the lives of the people of Israel.
In particular, God used this gently flowing water of Shiloah to symbolize Himself and His works, to show that there is an inseparable relationship between Him and the Israeli people and that it is vital to the survival of Israel’s life.
The section "Shiloah's gently flowing water" was also an important prophecy God said through Isaiah prophet. It was just caught between "Immarelli" in Isaiah 7 and "True Light shines" in Isaiah 9. If the prophecies of "Emanuel" prophecy and "True Light shines" are from God's "comfort", then this " the gently flowing waters of Shiloah" comes from God's warning.
It was a pity that the Israelites at that time still rejected such a good Siloam spring and repelled the Lord who had given them life. They did not need God or fear God in their adversity; but they were very afraid of people, and they only wanted to please people and trust people. (Generation 28, 22, 22)
As a result, Judah was almost destroyed by Assyria. (Isaiah 10:28-32) However God still saw and save them until the king of Hezekiah restored the faith, led the people to return to God, and called upon God.
Warning of the gently flowing waters of Shiloah in our faith
In the Bible, water represents life, and living water represents the true God.
However, because Shiloah's waters is a gently flowing, it is usually not very visible and often overlooked and even forgotten. This is a great crisis in our faith and we must be careful to prevent it.
Water represents the grace of God (Acts 14:17).
Today, God has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy. God also used His power to command all things and make our lives alive. Today we received God's grace. Just like Shiloah's gently flowing water, it seems ordinary, but it is very important. We must not ignore it.
Water represents the salvation of God (John 3:5) (1 Peter 3:21).
From a spiritual point of view, today the greatest grace given to God is the salvation of the cross. Today we are relying on this salvation, and we are born again by water. Unfortunately, many people despise this truth. Just like Shiloah's gently flowing water, some people even think that it is ignorant so it is a pity for them to refuse casually.
Water represents the Holy Spirit of truth (John 7:37-39).
Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. This is a very important invitation from the Lord Jesus. By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. The Holy Spirit is to be poured upon every one's heart like Shiloah's gently flowing water which is an endless stream so that people will never thirst for true joy and satisfaction.
The question is: When we receive the Holy Spirit, are we constantly filled with the Holy Spirit? Or have you gradually deserted the living spirit of the Holy Spirit? This is a question worthy of our consideration.
When the Pharisees did be wise in their own eyes and they used the appearance to see Jesus so they were unwilling to be humble before Shiloah' Pool, they blinked. What about us today? Are we from blinking to seeing, or are we seeing and returning to blinking? The only thing that matters is whether we love Shiloah's gently flowing water or disregard Shiloah's gently flowing water.
Ask God for help. May we all return to the Shiloah' Pool and get living water. We must leave the act of perfidiousness and the path of apostasy and concentrate on the God who supplies living water. Do not rely on the flood of Assyrian kings.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.
People often resort to treachery and lie in words. The lesson that history has given us is the people of God, from large to small, they frequently plan to betray God. They are tired of the manna in heaven. They conspired to betray Moses and they say false prophecies for their own personal gain. So they fall on God's faith.
“Go,”he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam”(this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. (Matthew 9:7 NIV)

If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,......, Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord ; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken. (Isaiah 58:13-14)
