Built Our Faith On The Rock
In the name of the Lord Jesus to share this sermon - Built our faith on the rock:
(Luke 6:46-49)
But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”'
When the Lord Jesus was on earth, many people followed him and wanted to hear his words. Although some call Jesus Lord, but they do not do what Jesus say. So Jesus went on to tell them this parable, which he is telling us today. For the word of God is settled in heaven forever. It says that there was a man who built his house on a rock, and there was a man who built his house on land. But when the water comes and the test comes, then each man's work has been revealed. if the man has built his faith (which is his house) on the foundation of Jesus, then his house survives, he will receive a reward. So it's very important what that foundation is. Look at the bible:
(I corinthians 3:10-11)
According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
The foundation is Jesus Christ, and no one can lay it any other way. Throughout history, the devil has used many people, laws, regulations, gold and silver, and power to take Jesus' place as a foundation, but they all failed. For the foundation was wrongly laid: it shall be plucked up, and it shall be planted anew.
(Jeremiah 1:10)
See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.
Where will the church be built?
(Matthew 16:18)
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
The Lord said, I will build my church upon this rock, and reveal three points. The first is that the church is God’s and Jesus' own. The second is that the builder of the church is none other than the Lord himself, and the third is that the church shall be founded upon a rock
And the Lord said to Peter: you are Peter. Peter means stone. Peter is not rock, Jesus is rock.
This is no an ordinary stone. This is a living stone. Why those are living stones? For we who are born again of the spirit of water are the living stones by hand of the Lord for the building of his church.
(1 Peter 2:5)
you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Genesis 28 says that while Jacob was fleeing from the persecution of his brother esau, he slept rough in the desert and rested on a stone, and in his sleep he saw a stairway up which the angels went up and down. This ladder is Jesus. Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven; No one can come to God the father except through him. Jesus is the truth, the way, the life. And Jacob awoke from his sleep, and took the stone that was under his pillow, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon it. And he named the place bethel. The original text of bethel means the house of God and represents the church of God. From this we see that the characteristic of the church is to pour oil on stones. What is oil? Oil stands for the holy spirit. What is the stone in the bible?
Jesus said to Peter, "you are a stone. It is the church, not the buildings, not the synagogues, not the churches. The church is divine, spiritual, heavenly, and not of this world.
(Genesis 2:7)
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
The dust is very weak, but by God's mercy and grace, we know Jesus, and by God's power and grace, our lives are renewed from the dust of weakness to the living stone of strength. Only living stones can be built into a spiritual palace, and the Lord has built his church on them. God does not want our natural dust and life, but the living stone belongs to Spirit, heaven, God after the rebirth of the spirit and water.
Now what is this rock? It's Jesus Christ himself.
(I Corinthians 10:4)
and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
Only on this rock can the church stand up to all kinds of environmental tests without falling down. This rock can yield water to satisfy the thirst of the human heart.
(Exodus 17:6)
Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.” And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
This rock produces honey and makes life sweet. If we know Jesus, grace and truth will follow, because Jesus brought grace and truth.
(Psalm 81:16)
He would have fed them also with the finest of wheat; And with honey from the rock I would have satisfied you.
This rock produces oil and makes the life of man abundant. The spirit's anointing is with us and leads us on the way to heaven. "For there was plenty of milk to wash my feet, and the rock poured out for me streams of oil. This rock gives us fire to cleanse our lives, to burn our sins and to test us. In the midst of suffering, God's grace is sufficient.
(Judges 6:21)
Then the Angel of the Lord put out the end of the staff that was in His hand, and touched the meat and the unleavened bread; and fire rose out of the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. And the Angel of the Lord departed out of his sight.
Thank God that Jesus Christ is a rock and foundation. We have to be built on Jesus Christ, unwavering, gracious, true, eternal life. For there is no other name given in heaven or earth by which we can be saved. And our foundation is right, we are the wise foremen whom Jesus commends. May our brothers and sisters receive the praise of God, thanks to the Lord.
Hallelujah Amen.
Blessed in our Lord Jesus Christ!
